Minor trespass in a thrifted outfit

Since I’ve started blogging, I see walls in a whole new way. Namely, 1) are they less than a five-minute walk from the office and 2) will they make a good backdrop for pictures? N and I found a great little spot that had a brick wall, a wooden fence covered in ivy AND a random ladder prop. (The brick wall did not end up making into the pictures). We found this bloggers’ delight in one of those joint parking lots shared by a few different homes, so if you want to be technical about it, we were probably trespassing. But when you’re two girls taking pictures of each other, and you don’t appear to be using the ladder to gain entry into the house, people seem to leave you alone.

This outfit is one of my personal favourites, and I'm happy with how the pictures turned out. I brought back the pink skirt I wore in this post, and added some transition-to-fall pieces – a forest green silk button-down and fish-scale pumps in a similar hue, plus a white button-up sweater I keep at work to ward off chills. An 80s-style multicoloured belt tied the colours together. I recently realized all of my winter pants are boring black, grey and navy so I’m trying to squeeze out colour while I can!

  1. I love how you have started to transition this skirt into the colder months (heck add tights and boots and wear it in winter to brighten your mood!) I also really love the belt and shoes- you have great accessories! I'm jealous of you and N's impromptu blog shoots- none of my colleagues know I have a fashion blog so it makes it difficult to take pics at work!

  2. I do the same thing with walls and with basically anything else now. I always look at how I think they would photograph. It has become like second nature to me now.

This skirt is absolutely stunning. I am in love with this color!

  3. I LOVED this outfit on you too and I loved the green silk top. For me its even better because I get to see the details and admire your outfit in person. I hope you'll still wear this skirt in fall/winter. Can definitely see you wearing it with tights....PS i just had flashbacks of the pictures we took when my pictures turned blue and the audience. haha

  4. I absolutely adore the color and detail of your skirt!! You're chic head to toe, I love love your shoes!

  5. Your pink skirt is so neon, It is considered daring to wear it here haha it's soo pretty!! :)

  6. That outfit is great on you!

I have to laugh because I see backdrops in a whole new light as well since I started blogging. My husband and I passed by a dumpster the other day, all rusty with graffiti, and I told him I wanted to take pictures in front of it sometime. He thought I was totally crazy, of course!

  7. the belt goes well with the pink skirt!! and this is a cute outfit for work

  8. I agree about adding tights and boots to bring the skirt into the winter! That's a cheery and chic outfit you're wearing.

  9. I'm still not very good at this whole picture thing. But now you have me thinking. I've always been to embarrassed to take them outside. Maybe I'll thrown my tri pod in my purse and see what I find.
I really like the pink skirt on you. It is very flattering.

  10. The more I blog the more I want a new camera and a pretty colorful wall with privacy....hi Dawn from Suitcase Vignettes. How are you? Nice to meet you. This is my first time joining Thurs. for Thrifters which happens to be my Thrift day too. I admire how you added the green shirt with the pink skirt...I would never have thought of that. Great look and the shot with the ladder is really pretty. Dawn xo

  11. You found a great place to take pictures. I love that cardigan. Thanks for linking up!

  12. thanks so much for playing...... Disappointed in the level of participation but, live and learn.
Maybe next week will be better!
    Again, thanks!
